NJ Home Improvement Contractor

New Jersey Remodeling Contractors

You have decided that your family needs to add on to your home but now you are left with the task of deciding which NJ home improvement contractor you want to hire. In fact, you may not even know where to start looking for a home improvement or remodeling contractor.  here we will provide a few tips on how to decide on which NJ home improvement contractor will best be suited for you.

When deciding on which NJ home improvement contractor you think would work best for you, you want to first find contractors that specialize in the type of project you are trying to build. As simple as this sounds, some homeowners would never think to focus on bathroom remodeling contractors for their bathroom remodeling project or home addition contractors for their proposed home addition project. Homeowners shouldn’t  assume that every and any NJ home improvement contractor can build what you are looking to build.

References and positive feedback should be another item that you want from your NJ Home Improvement contractor. Prior to signing on the dotted line, have your Home Improvement Contractor provide as many references to you as you feel comfortable with. Usually 2-4 references should be suffice. Now, take those references and call each one. Leave a message entailing what information you are requesting if no one answers. Make sure you get in touch with the references and find out specifically if the home improvement contractor  adequately performed all his required duties. More importantly, you want to make sure that the references are of jobs that are similar to the one you are about to undertake. It wouldn’t make sense to request feedback from a provided reference if they had a deck built and you are looking for a multi story addition.

Here are some other ways to find a NJ home improvement contractor for your remodeling job. Go to your local newspaper and simply start calling some of the contractors listed. Request a free estimate  and set up an appointment for them to stop by to  see and hear your proposed ideas. Have 4 -5 contractors stop by over the course of 1-2 weekends. They will then provide you a written proposal but make sure that you discuss exactly the same options so that you can compare the bids against each other.

Another way to decide on a NJ home improvement contractor is to ask around and see if any people know of a remodeling contractor that you may be interested in using. Start with your neighbors. Sometimes your neighbor may be an excellent source since he or someone that he knows could have used a home improvement contractor. If the contractor was good, then you will hear all about it. Another way is to go to your local building department and see if there is a contractor in particular that often works in the area and has a good reputation. Although the building department isn’t partial to giving out recommendations, they may give you a few names of local companies that often work in their towns. If all this wasn’t enough, you may even want to drive around and simply look for homes under construction. You will see the signs posted and numbers for those contractors.

Green Remodeling Tips With Your NJ Home Improvement Contractor

Green Building

Green Remodeling

NJ Home Improvement Contractor

Are you interested in learning Green Remodeling tips. Green remodeling can be done in any part of your home weather it’s a kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, installing energy efficient windows or low energy appliances. As a NJ home improvement contractor, I can tell you now that there are many ways to go green with your home improvement project.

One of the more popular ways to go green during a home addition project is to increase the R rating capacity of your standard 2×4 wall stud. If you are currently building an addition and the wall studs are being framed with 2×4’s, here are a few tips you can have your NJ Home Improvement Contractor use to increase your insulating value.

Normally when your NJ Home Improvement Contractor installs insulation in a 2×4 wall stud, he can either install an R-11, R-13 or even an R-15 batt insulation. In the past, to achieve a higher rating, your NJ Home Improvement Contractor would need to upgrade the wall framing to 2×6 wall studs which then an R-19 insulation could be installed. The difference would be very costly since the difference in 2×4 to 2×6 studs is more than double and you would also pay the difference for using an R-19 insulation as well.

With the advancement in green remodeling and green energy solutions, you can now have a closed cell spray foam insulation sprayed into the 2×4 bay. One inch of foam in most cases is comparable to an R-6 rating. With that being said, your NJ home improvement contractor can combine a 1″ closed cell spray foam and up to an R-15 insulation if needed. That ultimately will total an R rating of 21 within a 2×4 wall stud.

With the cost of energy at extremely high levels, the more insulated your home is, the better off you will be. Having your NJ Home Improvement Contractor utilize these Green remodeling tips can save your family money with a little preplanning. Talk to your NJ Home Improvement Contractor about any green remodeling concerns you may have. Also contact Pangione Developers Inc .

ADD A LEVELS – NJ Home Improvement Contractor

REMODELING

SECOND STORY ADDITIONS – CAPE COD

NEW JERSEY REMODELING CONTRACTORS

Are you interested in remodeling your home by building an add a level in Bergen County New Jersey. If you own a ranch, cape cod or even a split level, it is very common as a NJ Home Improvement Contractor to remove the existing roof and build an entirely new floor above. Specializing in add a levels and NJ Home Additions, Pangione Developers Inc., a NJ Home Improvement Contractor has built raised levels all throughout Bergen County NJ.

What are the benefits of building an Add A Level? Well as a NJ Home Improvement Contractor, we have found that homeowners wanting to originally move can’t get the asking price that they anticipated. So they remove their home from the marketplace and then start the process of deciding what can be done with their home to increase the foot print and living area.

Building an add a level home improvement is usually one of the most popular choices selected by homeowners. Your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will remove the roof of your home and then begin the process of building a new floor layout. The main focus is to relocate the bedrooms from the 1st floor and have them now situated into the new add a level. So now that the bedrooms are relocated to the add a level, the 1st floor can then be opened up and that living area will be created into an open floor plan.

Your new NJ add a level layout can have various different layouts but the most common would be 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom as well as a potential laundry. It is all dependant on your home’s existing square footage. If you have an attached garage, you can also gain the living area above the garage as well. If you are lucky enough to have a larger existing floor plan, you can option for a master bathroom along with a standard bathroom. Another option you may want to consider and has become very popular is a 2nd floor laundry. Most times located off the standard bath area, your new laundry location will be a welcomed option for all.

Master Bathroom Remodeling- NJ Home Improvement Contractor

Do you want to have your own master bathroom suite in your home located Bergen County New Jersey and you are looking to hire a NJ Home Improvement Contractor. One concern is where would you like to build your master bathroom suite. You may need to hire a NJ Home Improvement Contractor to build a home addition in order to accommodate the master bathroom. You may have an extra room alongside your existing master bedroom that would be beneficial for your new master bathroom layout and reconfiguration. Also, if you are planning a new home, you can simply layout a master bathroom into your architectural plans much easier.

The question is, what size master bathroom would be ideal for me? You may want to consult with your NJ Home Improvement Contractor. This is a rather hard question to answer but one major factor that dictates  the size of your master bathroom will be what size is the space you have to work with. As long as the space you have available is at least a minimum of 10’x10′ then you will be able to work within that area. Again this all depends on the homeowner’s needs.
Ask your NJ Home Improvement Contractor what fixtures make a master bathroom suite standout from a standard bathroom and give it more appeal. A double sink bathroom vanity for him and her is probably one of the most requested fixtures for a master bathroom. Also your master sink configuration will consist of a double sized vanity, GFI wall outlets and vanity lights as well. Many homeowners request, if your space allows it, plan on adding both a custom standing shower and a separate Jacuzzi. Usually the shower will be completely custom made from the shower base on up with a frameless shower door to enclose it. To further dress up your shower, install body sprays with separate volume control knobs to turn different body sprays on and off at different times. A steam unit can also be installed and with the press of a button, you will have a all the comforts that your shower can offer.

You may want your NJ Home Improvement Contractor to install a Jacuzzi in your master bathroom. The smallest size Jacuzzi you would want would be 5′ x3′. Your Jacuzzi can be installed with an apron or as a deck mounted version. The deck mount version is where your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will build a landing to support the Jacuzzi. A hole somewhere in the middle of the deck will be cut and the Jacuzzi will be lifted and then lowered into the hole. The landing would be tiled as well as any walls that are exposed. You NJ Home Improvement Contractor would need to create an access panel so that the motor and pumps could be worked on if needed.

NJ HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR- Kitchen Remodeling Tips

NJ KITCHEN

NJ KITCHEN REMODELING

NJ HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS

If you are planning on installing a new kitchen in your Bergen County NJ Home and want to hire a NJ Home Improvement Contractor, here are a few tips to help you along the way.

There are homeowners that will hire a kitchen remodeling company to take care of the entire kitchen remodeling project. That NJ Kitchen contractor will remove the old kitchen, provide the homeowner with new cabinet and countertop samples. From beginning to end, the kitchen contractor will do all the legwork. At the same time, the NJ homeowner will be paying a large premium for this service. This service can be up to 40% above the actual cost of the job. You can save money on your kitchen remodeling project if you are willing to do some basic legwork.

Your NJ kitchen installation doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. There are ways for you to install a new kitchen and not break the bank. Pending the style of cabinetry, you will first want to find out where your local cabinet suppliers are located. If you plan on hiring a NJ Home Improvement Contractor, you may want to ask them which NJ Kitchen cabinet supplier that they use. Many times you can automatically receive a contractors discount if you are working with NJ Home Improvement Contractors that are associated with certain suppliers.

If you really want to save some money with your kitchen remodeling and want to put in the legwork required, once you know the color of cabinetry that you want to purchase, make a sketch of your NJ Kitchen layout and then call local suppliers. Ask them if they can provide a bid on cabinetry for your kitchen design in a cabinetry that they supply that is with your color specs. Provide an email for them to respond and they will provide a simple estimate for the type of cabinets that they can have access to that meets your color and other spec requirements.

At the same time you are shopping for cabinets, you should also ask the suppliers if they can provide an estimate on countertops. One supplier may be offering kitchen cabinets at a high price but may be able to offer the best price on granite countertops. So when it’s all said and done, you may purchase the cabinets from one company and the granite at another.

NJ HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR – Replacement window Tips

Are you are interested in hiring a NJ Home Improvement Contractor for your window replacement project? Window replacements on your home can add value and decrease your homes energy consumption.

Some homeowners that hire NJ Home Improvement Contractors want to replace the existing windows with replacement windows. A replacement window is a window that is made specifically to a certain size. Your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will measure the existing window opening and have a new replacement window made to order.

Another way to replace your existing windows is to remove the window and increase the widow opening  by having your NJ Home Improvement Contractor change the headers above the window to make your window opening as large as you would like the window to be. This method is more costlier since your NJ Home Improvement Contractor needs to alter the interior and exterior or the window well. Your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will need to not only remove and replace the header to a sufficient size, but also he will have to reinstall the removed exterior siding and put the interior back together around the window. This will involve reinstalling insulation, sheetrock, and the necessary trim work. For these reasons, installing a larger replacement window can cost more money.

With a standard replacement window, it is a bit easier for your NJ Home Improvement Contractor to install. Your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will measure all the windows that need to be replaced. Then he will have the replacement windows custom made to the sizes that he has measured. Once the windows are ready for installation your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will arrive on the job location and change many of the windows within one day. Pending the amount of windows in your home, your replacement window project should be finished within one or two days.

When installing a replacement window, your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will remove the interior window stop molding. After that, he will then remove the upper and lower sash’s. After caulking the opening to accept the new replacement window, your NJ Home Improvement Contractor will insert the replacement window into the window well until it fits flush against the window opening. He will then fasten the replacement window with the necessary screws. Usually four screws will do the trick. Now just reinstall the removed window stop molding and your window replacement is complete.

NJ HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR TIPS

. How can your NJ Home Improvement Contractor make your add a level look unique and give you great curb appeal in Bergen County New Jersey. Well first your NJ Home addition should be built by an experienced NJ Home Improvement Contractor. A NJ Contractor that specializes in add a level conversions such as cape cod and ranch conversions.

How can your NJ Home Improvement Contractor add curb appeal to your add a level? .That is a problem that many homeowners have throughout the planning stage as they review their architectural plans. You don’t want your add a level in Bergen County New Jersey to look as if you had just built a box on top of your home. You know what I am talking about. Having what looks like a box with roof shingle built on top of your ranch or cape. Here are a few tricks to dress up the front of your home.

As a NJ Home Improvement Contractor, that has built hundreds of add a levels throughout Bergen County NJ, I like to add accent gables on the roof just above the 2nd floor windows to accentuate those upper windows. It looks even better if the upper windows are mulled meaning that there are 2 windows put together on the left and right side. From the street , this looks really nice and automatically eliminates that box look.

From here I like to match the roof pitch of the accent roofs with an entry portico just above the front door. Again, from the street, you are now looking at the upper accent gable roof’s and now you have the portico entry roof to match. throw in the portico columns and now this house is getting closer to completion but we are not finished yet.

Next, where the portico roofline ends, we will build what’s termed an eye brow roof just where the 1st floor and 2nd floor meet. The eyebrow will run across the front of the house and break up the front wall. After the eye brow is shingled and sided, between all the above tricks, your home will look amazing and have a great curb appeal.

Contact your NJ Home Improvement Contractor if you have any questions or concerns.

Hiring a Home Addition and Remodeling Contractor in Bergen County New Jersey  can be a tedious task. Which remodeling contractor do you call? There are so many NJ Home Improvement Contractors to choose from. Let me offer some advice. You want a company that specializes in home additions, room additions and any other type of house addition. When adding an addition to your home, a company that specializes in home additions will coordinate and execute each stage accordingly. If one step is missed or slightly overlooked, you home addition project may reach a setback.

Let’s take for instance your new addition floor height. When building your home addition, you want to make sure that the new floor heights match the existing floor heights. If your footings are not aligned exactly at the height that is required, by the time the masonry block and floor beams are installed, you will then find out that the new and old floor heights do not match up. Sure, you would think that your contractor would know this but you would be surprised. You want to hire a contractor that specializes in home additions, raised levels and  all types of room additions when you are ready for your home addition project.

When hiring a contractor for your home addition, you want to consider how long the project will take until it is completed. You hear stories of home remodeling projects that are never ending. A home renovation shouldn’t take at a maximum, longer than 3 months. This is also a complete home remodeling. So for anything smaller, you can factor in slightly less time according to the size of the job. Your Home Improvement Contractor should provide a written time schedule for your to have disclosing how long the estimated time frame for the job to be completed. If you hire a home improvement company that specializes in home additions or house additions, you should have your home completed within that time frame.
